Food was good, Americanized Mexican cuisine. The guacamole is definitely spicy. The salsa was good and not spicy. Make sure you ask for the spicy salsa that is very goodAll of our dishes were good. Service was attentive and prices are very reasonable. The margaritas are huge so enjoy. There was three of us and we ordered a margarita, Guacamole appetizer and we were charged extra for the spicy salsa and we spent $56. And the margarita was $13 but it was huge. So overall it was a good American Mexican cuisine. We would come back.

Overall the rating would be a solid 3.5 stars. The food was definitely the best part. The price could've been more reasonable, most plates were around $12-15 instead of the old pics on yelp showing $9-11, where they should be.
The free chips and salsa were good like most authentic Mexican restaurants.
The entrees were plated a bit sloppy but the portions were decent. Overall value seemed a bit high for what you get as I already mentioned earlier.
The burritos were big and the quest and red sauce were good. The Beene tasted great here and the cheese enchilada was good too, just not worth $3 for 1 enchilada.
My partner got the fish tacos, decent portions of fish but didn't get the guacamole it said it came with just a cilantro sauce that was like ranch. And lots of lettuce.
The service was a bit lack luster and didn't get lemons for our water that we asked for. Overall it was good but I've had better Mexican restaurant experiences. -

Most underwhelming place I have eaten in TC... and I've been visiting for 30 years, resident for 1.5 months now.
This was my first, and will probably be my last visit to Agave Mexican Grill.
I came for an early evening dinner with my sister and it took about 5 min to get seated when the place was empty... there was no one around to do seating.
Once seated we were able to order quickly and food came out fast.
My food was a disappointment. I got the carnitas plate, which is described as "seasoned and fried pork tips"- there was no seasoning in sight (or rather taste). It was okay.
Throughout dinner our server stopped by once and then left us alone for 20min. A whole family came in ordered, ate, and left, all in the time before our server came back to us.
Then we ordered the Banana Burrito. A banana rolled in a flour tortilla, deep fried, rolled in cinnamon sugar, and served with ice cream. What came to our table was totally different than advertised. It was a raw banana tightly wrapped in a flour tortilla, drizzled with chocolate sauce. The banana was raw and cold, and the fry was AT LEAST a few hours old, if not days old. We tried to wait for the waitress to come back to ask her about the ice cream and had to wait another 20 min to even grab her attention. When we asked about the ice cream, she said it doesn't come with that but she can go look. She comes back 10 min later with the ice cream even though we only asked if it was on the menu, not being in the mood for ice cream after such a disappointing dinner and dessert.
I won't say that this is even a good place for a subpar Mexican meal because the cooks don't follow the menu, and the servers are inattentive (at least our server Ana was), and totally unapologetic.
I won't be coming back and I recommend you don't either. I will be trying their other location to see if they can do it a little better. -

I haven't tried many Mexican places in TC, so my mom and I decided to give this one a go. Easy to find and located near all the major things (near the cheery capital airport, mall and not far from the hospital) the exterior and enterance were very nice, modern and kept up well. You step inside and have delicious smells and Hispanic music hit you which is always a good sign. We were promptly seated and given complimentary chips and salsa. Sadly the salsa was EXTREMELY salty... I know it's free so why complain? The answer is that this salsa gives insight on the overall seasoning and quality to the menus items as a whole. We both ordered an enchilada platter because the lunch "specials" weren't very special at all. They don't offer many combinations. The waiter was hard to understand but attentive and efficient. The portions of our meals were fantastic, it was presented well. As suspected though the rice and enchilada sauce was salty. We both cleaned the plates though and simply drank a ton of water. Overall not an impressive experience that will get me back inside but not a bad one either. Worth a try for sure! I'll continue to find the best Mexican place in TC.

I needed to have my order different then what was on the menu and they understood and were very nice about it. The food was super fast and good! I would definitely recommend this place and come back in the future.
